However, I also did badly this quarter. I still procrastinate very badly. Like on this for example. Also, I know I will not achieve the grades I want in civics and English and math. I could have done better in these classes had I done my homework on time.
Some goals I'd like to set for next year:
1. Learn more Chinese! I want to be able to communicate at least a little orally and written.
2. Get above 3.5 GPA throughout the year. I don't want to get bad in the Winter time.
3. Be social throughout the year. This year I had a rocky time with friends and I think the contributed to my problems. I need to work on my communication skills.
4. Due all my homework ON TIME!
My biggest challenges this year were simply adapting, math, and art. I have a lot of trouble with math because I tend to not have any idea what is being said or why it is true. I need to spend more time reading my book. I have trouble with art because it is my least favorite subject and I lack motivation and now technique.
I learned a lot of things about college this year. I had pretty much 0 knowledge of anything when I came here. I learned about the application and process. I also learned more about what colleges are looking for. As in, they want people who are active, smart, and can bring something special to their school like a special talent or a big interest in clubs. However, even though you are eligible you might not get in, even if you are more than worthy. Colleges are looking for a certain something and you just might not be it. Another thing is that there are thousands of applicant letters and sometimes less than a hundred acceptance letters. Not everyone should want to go to a big famous school because it just might not be for them.
Overall, I learned a lot this year and not just in academics, but also life lessons. My biggest goal for next year is to apply this new knowledge and use it to my advantage.
