The story of <The Chrysalis> is complicated. Anne is the ex-girlfriend of Luo Jia. She miscarry after they broke up. In order to revenge, she kidnapped Wen Xin, the new girlfriend of Luo Jia on the Valentine's day. When Wen Xin weak up again, it's May. She was told that Anne disappeared and herself lost three-month memory. Wen Xin had Dissociative Identity Disorder and sometimes she thought she was Anne. Luo Jia proposed to Wen Xin and promised he would take care of her. Wen Xin suspected Anne's father and sister try to perish Wen Xin's personality and make Anne live in her body. She escaped from the wedding and found a lab in the basement of the hospital. There's a body soaked in the formalin ---- she's Wen Xin. In fact, Wen Xin has been dead after the valentine's day. Anne face-lift into Wen Xin's appearance. At the end of the movie, Wen Xin's personality disappeared. Anne suicide in front of Luo Jia.
<The Chrysalis> takes example by some popular movie in China such as <Double Exposure>, <Painted Skin>. And some female audience think it is a story about revenge, love instead of psychology. As far as I'm concerned, in the story, we can't tell it's who's fault caused the tragedy. Everyone is poor. And the director used the image of chrysalis to show the reflection of beauty and evil.
