In the past Japan has had issues with industrialization affecting its environment (eg. The Minamata disease which was caused by pollutants affecting the fish at Minamata bay) also we have taken measures to solve these issues which include using power sources that don’t burn fossil fuels.
Japan uses Nuclear energy for one third of it’s power, however after recent melt downs (the floods in 2011) Japan has decided to cut back on the amount of nuclear energy and is looking for environmental methods of power as replacements (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal) and will resort to these more heavily in the future.
Japan has also had issues with over fishing since a large portion of its economy is dependant on the fishing trade, Japan have also had issues of pollutants affecting its trade and the health of the citizens, eg. Russia dumping nuclear waste into the Japan sea and air pollution from eastern regions of China.
