The mentally handicapped people are a special group of people. They look like adults, but actually their mentality is the same as a 6-year child. Life is very hard for them, even a simple move or an easy sentence; all of the effortless movements in our life are huge challenges for them.
We arrived there at about 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Then we were divided into groups and played games with them. The volunteers tied a string between two people’s wrists or ankles, and let us to unfasten the strings, the fastest group would be the winner. You know, when I was watching the people trying to unfasten the strings, I was a little upset. Just because their mental problems, a simple movement like this would be difficult for them.
After played the game, we went to another room to see the artworks that were made by themselves. I was so impressed by their beautiful artworks. And that make me thought about something: god closed your door, but he still left a window for you. Even though they are not as wise as the normal people which they cannot choose, but at least they live happily in their small worlds, and that’s enough. They do have some special skills that others cannot do well as they do. And all I want to say is never give it up when there’s a challenge in your life. Remember, god closed your door, but he still left a window for you.
