Something that I learnt from today is to insist one thing is not easy, and it needs to be admired by others. Today, our school held a group of special guests who came from Yunan prefecture. During the assembly time, Mr. Eaton, Ms. Raina also joined us this time, they helped us to introduce those special guests to the students, and help us introduce our school to those teachers. After our introduction of them, Mr. Eaton said that it they can say something about their school of education situation to us. Later, I concentrate myself during their short speech, because it really touched me. One of their teachers told us that in Yunan prefecture, the education situation is not very good. Many children can only afford very cheap tuition for their study.
And the local government can only input 100 thousand yuan for the whole prefecture education. In one school, every year, the school can only get 5,000 yuan for the students, teachers, and any daily expense. This time, the whole expense for the entire teacher group to come to our school are more than 10 thousand yuan altogether. Without the help Parent Council of our school, they need to spend the whole school expense of two years, which will not be easy for them to come. That teacher said the old teacher in the teacher group has been teaching for the school for more than 30 years. I am just 16 now. It’s hard for me imagine how can a teacher spent the years more than the years I have lived in order to teach those poor students for their future.
I don’t know if he has think about giving up and just find a better job which can maybe offer him a high salary, but he didn’t choose this road. He made up his mind to stand in the teacher’s position for those little children. Honestly, I do not think I can do the as brave thing as he did in the future, but he really impresses us, make us think about our own again. We have the good family background, nice school campus, many great teaches, good study environment, but what can we do for our own future? Kyd
Though their educations are not good enough, we should try and help them. Maybe some kind of donation or charity program, but this may make them seem poor and may offend them. I wish that every part of the world is wealthy enough to provide good educations to the children.
